Creating a New Column

Columns in your Kanban board represent different stages of your workflow. Adding a new column allows you to customize and refine your project management process directly within Figma. Follow these steps to create a column that fits your workflow needs perfectly.

How to Add a New Column

  1. Access Your Board: Open the Kanban widget within your Figma file where you wish to add a new column.

  2. Locate Column Controls: The input for adding new column is located at the end of your existing columns.

  1. Name Your Column: Click the input to write new column title and press Enter to save. Choose a name that clearly represents the stage or category of tasks it will contain.

Best Practices for Column Creation

  • Reflect Your Workflow: Design your columns to closely mirror the stages of your project or workflow. Common examples include "To Do," "In Progress," and "Done."

  • Limit Columns: While customization is key, too many columns can become overwhelming. Aim for a balance that covers all stages without cluttering your board.
